David B. Gibbens

David B. Gibbens, of Hatboro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2019. He was 91 years old. David was the loving husband of the late Grace E. Gibbens (nee Freeman) with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Joseph D. and Elizabeth (nee Boyd) Gibbens.

David was a graduate of Olney High School and an alumnus of Temple University. He worked for many years as a teacher at John Paul Jones Junior High School in Philadelphia. David was a lay parish visitor at Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church for 15 years. He was awarded the Denman Award from the United Methodist Church for his volunteer work and was also a volunteer chaplain at Abington Hospital.

David is survived by his 2 children, Pamela J. Porro and David J. Gibbens; 3 grandchildren, Angelica, Gabriela, and Joseph. In addition to his wife and parents, David was predeceased by his siblings, Elizabeth L. Petsis and Howard A. Gibbens.

Relatives and friends will be received by his family on Saturday, October 5, 2019 after 10:00 am until the time of his memorial service at 11:00 am in Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church, 300 S York Road, Hatboro, PA 19040. His interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church at the address above.
