Jon A. Katherine

Jon A. Katherine of Warminster passed away on August 21, 2019.  He was the loving husband of Caroline (Carol) for 59 years.  He was the devoted father of Jon Robert and the late Scott David and proud Grampy to Anna, Scott, Jon E. and Nick.

He earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and M.B.A. degrees from Drexel Institute of Technology (Drexel University).  Upon graduation, he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

Jon worked for the Philadelphia Electric Company for 31 years.  He started working with Philadelphia Electric as a Drexel Co-op student.  In 1959, he began his career with the company as a test engineer.  He went on to become a supervisor of the Cost Analysis Section, and Finance and Accounting Section.  He became a staff engineer with the Corporate Planning Department, Assistant Manager of the Rate Division and completed his career as Manager of the Treasury Department, Assistant Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors.

He was active in serving the communities in which he lived.  Jon was a member of Hatboro’s Zoning Hearing Board for 23 years of which 5 years he served as the Board’s Chairman.  At Ann’s Choice, he participated in the Bingo Group activities at the Rose Garden and was a member of the Garden Club.

Jon was a member of the Pennsylvania Freemasons Friendship – Williams Lodge 400.

Jon was a man with many interests and talents:

            A Philadelphian sports fan

            Ultimate supporter of his grandchildren’s athletics and academic activities

            World traveler

            Accomplished pen and ink artist

            Furniture maker

            Home improvements designer and creator –gazebo, water garden,

            grandchildren rocking horses, hot tub and sauna

            Avid bridge player

            Faithful organizer of his PECO group’s annual Christmas Luncheon

            Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather

Friends are invited to greet the family Monday, August 26 from 10 am to 11 am followed by Jon’s funeral service at the Chapel of Ann’s Choice Retirement Community, Warminster, PA.
