Sandra Rookstool Obituary

Sandra "Sandy" Jean Rookstool of Hatboro passed away peacefully on January 8, 2016 at Albert Einstein Medical Center Philadelphia, surrounded by her family. She was 63. Sandy was the devoted wife of Kenneth B. Rookstool with whom she had shared 44 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo Y. Elliott and the late Helen Robinson and step-daughter to the late Allan Robinson.

Sandy was a 1970 graduate of Hatboro-Horsham High School. She held several administrative and event planning positions over the years, most recently at Betz Laboratories and Amerihealth Administrators, retiring in 2006. She was a long time member of Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church in Hatboro, where she and her husband were youth leaders through the years. She was the social chair at Hideaway Swim Club and a member of parent-teacher organizations in the Hatboro-Horsham School District. Sandy was active in all of her children's athletic leagues, including Hatboro Little League and Hideaway Swim Club. She never missed a game or an activity for her children and was a loving caregiver for all five of her grandchildren.

Sandy was an avid traveler, and enjoyed vacationing at beaches from Florida to Hawaii. She especially enjoyed vacation time with extended family on Long Beach Island, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, and Rehoboth Beach. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed trying new recipes in the kitchen. She loved entertaining and often put her event planning expertise to work while hosting numerous family celebrations. She happily referred to her home as "Grand Central Station." Sandy loved the Eagles and the Phillies, faithfully watching games for both teams at every opportunity.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter Julie Ciciarelli (Matthew) of Hatboro, sons Kenneth (Annatalia) of Audubon, and Jack (Lauren) of Perkasie, five grandchildren Aaron, Faith, Claire, Reagan and Jack, Jr., a brother Alonzo Elliott (Connie) of DeWitt, Nebraska, as well as nieces and nephews living across the country.

Relatives and friends will be received by her family on Saturday, February 13 after 9:30 a.m. in Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church, 300 S. York Road, Hatboro and attend her Celebration of life Service at 11:00 a.m. Her interment will be private.

Memorial contributions in Sandy's name may be made to either Lehman Memorial United Methodist Church at the above address or to Einstein Healthcare Network's Transplant Program (Office of Development, Braemer Building, 5501 Old York Road, Philadelphia, PA 19141).
