Arlene Pflaumer of Warrington, PA died on April 1, 2023. She was 85 years old.
Arlene was the wife of the late Dale Pflaumer and together they shared 55 years of marriage before his death in 2012. Arlene was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and she was the daughter of the late Al and Olive (Appleton) Barsky. Arlene was a graduate of Frankford High School. Arlene married at 19, moved to Bucks County, and started a family right away. While raising her children, Arlene did the bookkeeping for the family auto repair and service station businesses. In later years, she worked as a title clerk for a few auto dealers and as a benefits administrator for Bucks County.
Arlene and Dale were competitive tennis players for many years. They owned a home on the bay in Ocean City, NJ and summers were spent swimming, water skiing and fishing. In the winter, the family hit the slopes and Dale and Arlene often skied in Europe, New England or the mountains of the western US. She was very knowledgeable about financial matters and real estate and followed the stock market closely. She was a shrewd investor. Arlene loved all animals and was never without a dog or two. Arlene realized a lifelong dream when she went on safari in Africa at the age of 80. Arlene shared her love of travel with her children and grandchildren, and it was her great pleasure to gather the family on a cruise ship, at a big vacation house at the Jersey shore or at their home in Florida.
As her health declined in recent months, Arlene found immense comfort and strength in her Christian faith. She most recently worshipped at Wycombe Baptist Church in Wycombe, PA.
Arlene is survived by her children: Kevin (Barb) of Willow Grove, PA; Janet of Lakeville, MA; and and Doug (Mariah) of Ventura, CA, her grandchildren: Caitlin (Ryan) King; Ben (Lettie) Pflaumer; Toby Pflaumer; Ian and Heidi Ingram; great-grandsons: Henry and Owen King; her brother, Bob Barsky; her cousin Carol Morrell, who was like a sister to her; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family. Arlene was predeceased by her brother, Louis. Arlene also leaves behind her beloved golden retriever, Abby, everyone’s favorite dog.
