Byron W. Powell

Byron W. “Ron” Powell of Warminster passed away on June 14, 2026.  He was 85 years old.  Byron was the beloved husband of Joan Powell.  He was born in Philadelphia, PA, a son of the late Byron H. and Evelyn Powell.

In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by a daughter Denise Klauder and her husband Tom, grandsons Colin and Harrison Klauder, daughter-in-law Renee Miles and grandaughters Alison and Rebecca Miles, brother Gerry Powell (Angelina), sister-in-law Margaret Jay, many cousins, nieces, nephews and his loyal and faithful friends.  In addition to his parents, Byron was predeceased by a son, Michael D. Miles and his brother Lee Powell.

Ron was a US Navy Veteran proudly serving on the USS Valley Forge (CV-45).  After his time in the service he became a Senior Design Engineer with Lockheed Martin retiring at the age of 58.  He also worked for Warrington township in code enforcement up until last year.  He was a member of the W.K. Bray lodge in Hatboro.  Ron was also a lifelong member of the Warminster Fire Department joining in 1971. During his time with the Fire Department, Ron held just about every position including Chief and was a mentor to so many of the young members and he loved the brotherhood he shared with them.

Ron was an avid competitive swimmer in high school and he loved to ski. He took a big interest in photography, music, technology, learning about his family history through genealogy and learning about American history and politics.  He enjoyed working on projects in his old historic home.  Byron also kept in touch with his US Navy friends and remained close with many of those who he served with.

After his love of family and friends, his service in the military and service to the community as a firefighter meant the world to him.  He made many lasting relationships and loved his dear loyal friends who helped him during his recent illness.

A celebration of  Ron’s life will be announced at a later date.  If desired, memorials in his memory may be made to the Eagles Autism Foundation or to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
