Carol Perrine Obituary

Carol J. Perrine of Fort Washington Estates (formerly a resident of Hatboro for 50 years) passed away on January 7, 2021 at the age of 80. She was the beloved wife of the late Scott Perrine, Jr. with whom she had shared over 24 wonderful years of marriage. Carol was born in Philadelphia, PA.  She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Helen  (nee Wengel) Jardine. Carol is survived by her loving daughter Dawn Marie (nee Perrine) Gonzales and her husband David (of Willow Grove, PA), and 3 grandchildren - Rhianna Marie Gonzales, Elyse Anne Gonzales and Gregory Scott Gonzales.

Carol was proud to volunteer with the Abington Memorial Hospital Hospice Program where she celebrated over 2000 hours of service. She also loved to garden, read, watch television, do crossword puzzles, eat out at restaurants, and cross-stitch.  Monarch butterflies held a special meaning to her, and inspired her to get her first tattoo of one (with 3 antennas that represented her 3 grandchildren) at the age of 77.  Traveling was something that Carol truly loved to do.  Throughout her life, she went on many cruises, explored Central and South America, England, many locations in the USA, Mexico and the Caribbean, and fulfilled a dream of traveling to China.  Spending a week in Brigantine, NJ with family every summer was also a highlight.  By far, traveling with her grandchildren to Mexico each summer was her favorite thing to do.  Carol found great joy in experiencing these moments with her three grandchildren, from riding a jeep thru the island of Cozumel, snorkeling with turtles, to exploring Mayan ruins – she did it all!  Recently, Carol downsized her home in Hatboro and moved to an independent living apartment at Fort Washington Estates.  In completing a “get to know you” questionnaire there, Carol shared the following answers:

  • What brings you the greatest joy? – “my grandchildren”
  • What are you most proud of? – “my family”
  • What is your advice to future generations ? – “follow your dreams”

Carol – affectionately known by most as “Memaw” - will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  She was loving, thoughtful, funny, loved to chat, and was incredibly caring and kind.

Her family is so grateful for all the cherished memories, especially…..

  • Greg - “getting soft pretzels when she picked me up after school”
  • Elyse – “sharing secrets and inside jokes”
  • Rhianna – “reading together on the beach in Brigantine and Mexico”
  • Dawn – “walking on the Great Wall together”
  • Dave – “her meatloaf and our train trips in London”

Her services and interment will be private. Memorials in Carol’s memory may be made to the Abington Hospice Health Center – Willow Grove, Suite 250, 2510 Maryland Road, Willow Grove, PA 19090.
