Carol J. Schmidt of the Isle of Palms, SC, formerly of New Port Richey, FL and Warminster, PA, passed away peacefully on February 21st, 2025 at her home in South Carolina. She was 94. Carol was the devoted and loving wife of the late Albert O. Schmidt. She was predeceased by her only cousin and best friend Joan Bellet of Southampton, on February 22nd, 2014.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Frances Johnson (nee Baumner). Carol was raised in Northeast Philadelphia and graduated from Simon Gratz H.S., where she met her future husband at prom. She married at age 21, bore her first child at 23, and worked tirelessly as a homemaker, mom and grandmom over the next 6 decades. Carol was an avid card player throughout, a power bowler in her 20s and 30s, and shared social outings and Sunday worship with her dear friend Phyllis of New Port Richey in her golden years. Highly intelligent, she was a ‘wiz’ at solving puzzles: Sudoku, Word Jumbles and Cryptograms. As her children left the nest, she sought the companionship of a line of miniature Schnauzers, continuing the maternal love and care that fueled her life.
Carol is survived by son Albert W. Schmidt, Captain, U.S. Navy (ret.) and wife, Bridget, Isle of Palms; son Carl B. Schmidt, Sellersville; son Robert J. Schmidt and wife, Karen, Chalfont; daughter Deborah C. Schmidt, Treasure Island, FL; and grandchildren Jaclyn, Derek, AJ, Kaylee, Kathryn, and Jenny.
Funeral services will be held at the Schmidt Family gravesite on Friday, March 7th, 2025 at 2:00 pm, Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler. The procession will gather inside the main entrance (1169 Limekiln Pike) starting at 1:30 pm.
