Colleen Burns of Warminster, a Northeast Philadelphia, Juniata native passed away suddenly and peacefully in her sleep May 25, 2024. She was 48 years old, just 4 days shy of her 49th birthday. Colleen was born in Nazareth Hospital at 2:24 am , Thursday May 29th, 1975 in Philadelphia, PA. Colleen was the beloved daughter of Thomas R. Burns and Jacquelyn A. Kleiner Burns, and also the loving older sister of Amanda C. Burns.
She was predeceased by her daughter Catherine Amelia Burns. In addition to her parents she is survived by her sister; Amanda Burns, her nephew Samuel T. Burns; her loving partner Edward O’Hara and many many Aunts, Uncles, 1st and 2nd Cousins of her large loving family. She is also survived by her precious feline companions Itsy and Buddy.
Colleen was a student at Francis Hopkinson School, Holy Innocents Catholic School (Class of 1989), Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls (Class of 1993), Community College of Philadelphia, and Sanford Brown Technical Institute - Medical Assistant Certifications. While she was a good student, Colleen also worked hard to learn and achieve the best of everything.
Colleen was an avid Phillies and Aaron Judge of the Yankees Fan. She enjoyed doing day trips with her many friends and partner Ed to many of the local area shops, festivals, concerts and musical performances, theaters and historical and cultural sites. She was an animal lover especially of felines and the three family dogs. As well as active in animal rescue organizations. Colleen fondly remembered with pride her career as a Medical Assistant Teacher, teaching others to take care of those in need, as well as her volunteer work with local Emergency Medical Services.
Relatives and friends will be received by her family on Friday, May 31, 2024 after 10:00 a.m. followed by her Catholic Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. in Schneider Funeral Home, 431 N. York Road, Hatboro. Her interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials in Colleen’s memory donations may be made in her name to the American Heart Association, Saint Christopher’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Bucks County SPCA.
