Constance “Connie” Marie Meloy of Hatboro, Pennsylvania, 92, died at her home on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, surrounded and cared for by her loving family. Connie was born on December 17, 1931 in Coatesville, PA, and was a longtime resident of Parkesburg. She was a 1949 graduate of Scott (Coatesville) High School, and was quite the athlete throughout her life, playing baseball and basketball in high school, and later playing wiffleball, gin rummy and many other games with all the children and grandchildren, and cheering for her beloved “Phillies” and “76ers”. She met her future-husband Bill Meloy during a sleepover at the house of her best friend Hope Meloy (Bill’s sister) in high school. Connie and Bill married in 1951, and had four children -- Mark Randall, Tracie Hope, Kelly Lee and Michael Thomas. Connie and Bill loved to dance, especially the jitterbug, and both enjoyed many types of music.
Connie was a stay-at-home mom until Michael (the youngest) was in elementary school, when she then began teaching typing at the Coatesville Area High School and continued into her early 60s. Connie’s students loved her, often confided in her, and recognized and chatted with her everywhere she went. Connie was an avid collector and lover of the arts, and made a lot of her own art over many years. She drew her own fashion designs in her youth, moved on to watercolors later in life, and during her golden years, collected pieces of nature that she would include in her floral artwork (pieces of birch bark, special leaves from the fall, dried & pressed flowers, etc.). She saw art everywhere and in everything, and truly loved and appreciated life and her family. Connie collected arts from some of the high school students, teachers at the high school, and her two oldest children (Mark, a professional artist, and Tracie), among others.
Connie was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Brown of Coatesville, PA, one of five siblings, with her younger brother, Donald Brown, one of the most special persons in her long life. Connie was a fearless supporter of her children and family (and her two dogs Pepe and Benji), loving them with all her being and supporting them in all their adventures. That included her four children, daughter-in-law Lisa (Kalnin) Meloy and son-in-law Seth Molofsky, and five grandchildren Jesse Dickenson, Ale Meloy Butler (married to Ian Butler), Julia Meloy, Joshua Molofsky and Leah Molofsky. Connie also had five great grandchildren, who often visited Connie in her Hatboro apartment -- Charley, Caleb, Violet and Theo Butler, and Luca Meloy. Connie was predeceased by her son Mark Meloy, and husband Bill Meloy.
