Dallas Bucher Obituary

It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Dallas Bucher of Huntingdon Valley. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on March 25, 2025. He was 68 years old. Dallas was the beloved husband of Colleen Bucher with whom he had shared 42 wonderful years of marriage.

Born on April 17, 1956 to parents Dallas and Florence (Boston) Bucher, Sr. He was raised in Huntingdon Valley where he was fortunate to have made life long friendships. He graduated from Lower Moreland High School in 1974, and has remained in contact with his former classmates by attending many enjoyable Class Reunions with them. Dallas would later earn his Bachelor’s degree from La Salle University while working for the Federal Government.

Dallas was a U.S. Navy Veteran, who after his honorable discharge, continued to serve his country working for the Federal Government/Department of Defense, retiring after 42 years of service. During his active duty, Dallas served on the USS America CV-66 Aircraft Carrier, sparking his interest in boating, sailing, traveling, and fishing. This in turn, led Dallas and Colleen owning sailboats and motor boats over the years, and having many fun adventures on the water, including times when family and friends would join them. Throughout his government service, Dallas had received numerous awards, commendations, and medals, including the National Defense Service Medal and Distinguished Career Award.

After his time in the U.S. Navy, he worked for the Department of Defense/DLA/DISC, where he met and fell in love with his future wife Colleen. They were married in June of 1983, and honeymooned in Majorca, Spain, a place that Dallas had suggested, having briefly visited there while on active duty in the Navy. Two years after they were married, they purchased the home that Dallas grew up in, from his mother, and have happily lived there ever since. In 1985, they were blessed with having their son Alex. Alex was raised in the same house as his Dad, attended the same schools, and was even taught by some of the same teachers.

Dallas enjoyed many things in life such as fine watches, clocks, art, and model trains.  Dallas was an avid music lover known for his guitar, piano, and various musical instrument playing ability. He also enjoyed traveling to many places with the love of his life, especially when driving in his Miata. Dallas also loved just staying at home and having family and friends over to hang out by the pool, listen to music, and share stories of fun times. Most of those fun times, and the best times that Dallas enjoyed over the years, were ones shared with his truelove Colleen.

Dallas and Colleen shared a special bond that went beyond the bond of marriage and of being best friends, it was a bond of true love... of being soulmates. Recently while reminiscing with Colleen, and being thankful for the wonderful life they’ve shared together, Dallas commented the fact that most people live their entire lives and never find their soulmate..., he then expressed to Colleen how very lucky they both were, that they had found their soulmate when they had found each other...

Dallas will be deeply missed. He will forever remain in our thoughts, in our hearts, and in our cherished memories.

Dallas is survived by his beloved wife Colleen (Carlin) Bucher, their son Alex Bucher, and Alex’s wife Sarah (Benz) Bucher. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Dianne (Bucher) Collins.  Funeral/Memorial Services for Dallas will be held privately.
