Daniel Olejnik Obituary

Daniel J. Olejnik of Warminster, Pa died on March 6, 2026. He was 98 years old.  He was born to Joseph and Helen Olejnik, Dan grew up in Swoyersville PA and then joined the US Navy in 1946.   After being discharged, he returned to Swoyersville and worked at the White Owl Cigar factory, where he met the love of his life, Hildy.  He was recalled to active duty in 1950 and transferred to Jacksonville, FL, with Hildy moving to Florida in 1953 when they married.  They spent five years in Florida before returning to Pennsylvania.  Dan, Hildy, and family remained in Pennsylvania for about 10 years until the Navy transferred him to Washington, DC, where they resided on Andrews Air Force Base.  A final transfer brought them back to Pennsylvania, where they remained.   Dan’s service continued until retiring in1973 after 24 total years of active duty and he then returned to work for the Navy as a civilian until his retirement in 1989.

Dan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.    He was a lifelong baseball fan and loved the Philadelphia Phillies.  He was also a bowling enthusiast for most of his adult life.  After moving to Ann’s Choice in 2010, Hildy and he enjoyed going to the gym and spending time in the clubhouse in the evening talking with friends.  He was also an active bingo player and was well-known to the Ann’s Choice bingo crowd as Mr. Bingo.

He began his musical journey playing violin in bands with his father, in Panama while in the Navy, and again at home after his first service.   After putting away his violin in 1950 after being called back to active service, he then resumed playing again at the age of 84 when he joined The Second Time Around Band at Ann’s Choice.  Even when his health forced him to stop playing, he continued to attend weekly rehearsals and the band’s concerts.

Married to Hildy for 69 years until her death in 2023, Dan is survived by his brother Joseph (Katie) of Swoyersville, PA, sister Agatha Abromavage (Stanley) of Exeter, PA, and was preceded in death by his sister Marian Morrison (William) of Liverpool, NY.   Dan is also survived by his four children: Daniel (Nancy) of Acworth, GA, Deborah Metherall (Andrew) of Ambler, PA, David (Angela Pawlowski) of Marlton, NJ, and Diane Barr (Jack) of East Norriton, PA.   Dan also found great joy in his six grandchildren, Derek, Jonathan, Abbey, Michael, Jack, and Jessica, as well as great-grandchildren, JJ, Carson, Sophie, and Grayson.    Dan was also expecting his fifth great-grandchild in June 2026.
