David Ekker Obituary

David J. Ekker of Horsham passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the age of 85. He was the beloved husband of 60 years to Sally Ekker. David was born in Nanticoke, PA and is the son of the late Leon and Victoria Ekker.

David served in the United States Army for two years and was honorably discharged. Following his military career, he went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree from Kings College.  He was a long term and loyal civilian employee of the Naval Aviation Supply Office where he worked as an Inventory & Supply Disposal Manager.  Dave had a passion for sports, having coached all of his children in Horsham Little League baseball & softball, and took pride in being one of the biggest Penn State football fans. Dave and his sisters began the family tradition of reunions for Easter, July 4th and Labor Day, and this tradition still continues.  He was a kind, gentle man, always with a smile, who enjoyed simple days in his home of 50+ years in Horsham with his wife and his two grand-kitties.  His family and friends will cherish the many Jersey Shore family vacations, Penn State tailgates, and happy holidays spent together.

In addition to his wife Sally, David is survived by his children; Ann Elizabeth Ekker, Matt Ekker (Kim), Sue Muredda (John) and Karen Sharp (Chris), seven grandchildren; Zack, Ryan, Tori, Eric, Gabe, Lexi and Ben, and his sister, Evelyn Roman (Joe).  David was preceded in death by his sisters, Jean Davis and Marie Krason.

At the request of the family, David’s Funeral Mass and burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
