Derel Keller Obituary

Derel L. Keller of Warminster passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years old. He was born in La Porte, IN a son of the late Ray and Anna Keller and the beloved husband of 59 years to Gretchen Keller.

Derel was a stand-out high school football player and was inducted into the LaPorte Football Hall of Fame. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Coast Guard for four years having been honorably discharged in 1961. It was during basic training in Cape May, New Jersey where he met and fell in love with Gretchen.  He was a carpenter by trade.  Derel cherished the family he and Gretchen raised, and he avidly attended his children and grandchildren’s sports, theater, band, and many other activities. Derel was well known in his community for his giving nature, always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and painting particularly when he could spend this time and share his talents with his family.

In addition to his wife Gretchen, Derel is survived by a daughter Kimberly Burke and her husband Greg and their children, Monica (Fiancé Philip Jeffery), Johanna, Patricia and Christina, son William Keller and his wife Carol and their children, Alex, Jacob and Jessica and son Richard Keller and his wife Marna and their children, Shannon, Allison and Amanda, a brother Robert Keller and his wife Dolores and two sisters, Darla Eiler and Connie Boss and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends will be received by his family on Tuesday, August 10th after 9am in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 505 N. York Road, Hatboro and are invited to attend his Memorial Service at 11am. His interment will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Derel’s name to Christ’s Home, 800 North York Road, Warminster, PA 18974 or to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at the above address.
