Doris (Irion) Stolp Jones, born July 17, 1931, died on Monday, June 15, 2020. She is survived by her four children: Kathryn Elise Pokalo (George), R. David Jones, Margaret Eleanor Jones, Stephen Mark Jones (Dyana), and her two grand-daughters, Gillian Alise Pokalo (Nathaniel Condo) and Gwen Amanda Pokalo. Doris graduated from Olney HS in 1949, from Temple University in 1953, and received her Master’s degree from Temple in 1969. She lived on Revolutionary Way in Warminster for 51 years before moving to Southampton Estates in 2007. Doris taught kindergarten and primary grades at Shelmire Elementary School and at Davis Elementary School in Southampton. Through her career in the Centennial School District, Doris taught two generations of children, many of whom remained in touch with her through their work and relatives. A long-time member of St. John’s Ev Lutheran Church in Hatboro, Doris taught Sunday School for over 50 years, and while she was able, she rang with the bell choir, which gave her great pleasure.
Doris had an amazing ability to retain relationships throughout her life; people she’d worked with and people she’d grown up with remained in her life across generations. Surviving breast cancer and managing with Parkinson’s, she was an avid traveler. From the time her youngest son had completed high school and for the next 30 plus years, she traveled widely; the only continent she was unable to visit is Antarctica.
