Dorothy C. Rocca, 84, a longtime resident of Hatboro, unexpectedly and peacefully passed away on January 23rd, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born in Philadelphia on April 23rd,1940. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Anthony G. “Tony” Rocca of 60 years, her son-in-law Joseph Lynn, her loving parents Lawrence and Cecelia O’Connor, her brothers Robert O’Connor and his wife Florence, Lawrence O’Connor and his wife Thelma, her brother-in-law George Buffington (Frances), father and mother-in-law Anthony and Hilda Rocca, brothers-in-law Frank Rocca and his wife Anna, John C. Rocca and William Gwynn (Sylvia).
After graduating from Mercy Technical Institute High School in Philadelphia, she worked for Cinderella Frock where she cherished two very special, lifelong, friendships and passionately enjoyed her craft. “Dottie” as she was lovingly known there, was a very talented seamstress, and enjoyed sharing her expertise with her loved ones.
She met Tony, at the age of 17, and married the love of her life on October 19th,1964, a marriage which lasted 60 wonderful years, creating and cementing a legacy of life-long traditions and memories with their family and friends.
Dot was delighted when she was “down the shore,” walking the Ocean City boardwalk or playing the slots at the casinos in Atlantic City. She looked forward to going on cruises with “her man” and “the crowd,” and enjoying frequent trips to Chicago and Tampa. Most of all, Dot was at her happiest, as a mother, spending time with her three children, and as a “mommom” of nine grandchildren and a great granddaughter; celebrating Eagles Football Family Sunday, birthdays, holidays, summer picnics, and always selflessly offering her fun-loving antics which made any normal day anything but. Those times are what she looked forward to the most and what her family will always treasure. Through the years she earned many nicknames: Little Mommom, Dollface, Hon, Our Little Firecracker and the “Mary Lou” to her beloved sister Frances’ “Mary Jane" and offered an unprecedented joy and kindness to everyone who had the pleasure to meet her.
Dorothy will always be remembered by her endless love for people. She left a lasting impression on anyone she stopped to talk to, no matter where she went, especially her favorite diners and restaurants. Even when she met a stranger, it wasn’t very long before she considered them “her friend.”
Dorothy’s legacy continues and is survived by her daughter Jacqueline Dorothy Rocca O’Hara, son Anthony Lawrence Rocca and his wife Kelly (Doolin), her daughter Eileen Cecelia Lynn (Rocca), her sister Frances Mary Buffington (O’Connor), her sister-in-law Sylvia Gwynn, her grandchildren Michael Anthony O’Hara (Amanda), Fallon Cecelia O’Hara (Dustin), Douglas Connor O’Hara (Angela), Rachel Cecelia Baker (Eric), Ashlyn Elizabeth O’Hara, Michael Anthony Baker, Lauren Eileen Baker, Allyson Christine Rocca, Anthony John “A.J.” Rocca, and her great granddaughter Cecelia Ann Wrenn. Dorothy is also survived by her dear godchildren, nieces and nephews. All of whom she adored and loved.
