Eunice Beatrice (Bea) Northway (nee Oliva), of Willow Grove, formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020. She was 91 years old. Bea was the loving wife of the late Lowell E. Northway, with whom she shared 45 years of marriage . Born in Iowa City, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mabel Oliva.
Bea ran her own catering business for 30 years, catering weddings and small occasions. In her free time, she volunteered at the Second Hand Rose Thrift Shop in Poughkeepsie and was a very active member of the Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church. This includes attending services and organizing and cooking for special church events, as well as several other church activities. Bea was also a board member of the Vassar-Warner Home. She was a beautiful artist which was displayed not only in her cooking but also in her watercolor paintings.
Bea is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lori and David Mocknick; her grandson and his wife, Matt and Abigail Chopel; two great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Chloe' Chopel; her son-in-law, Jan C. Chopel; and a sister, Joyce Rathjen. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Chopel; a grandson, Stephen Chopel; and siblings, Ralph, Betty, and Helen.
