Evelyn Kastenhuber Zurybida of Hatboro, formerly of Wyncote, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Artman Lutheran Home. Evelyn was born 7/25/32 in Philadelphia to the late Adam and Elsie Bachmayer, and had one brother, the late Donald Bachmayer. She was pre-deceased in 1991 by her beloved husband of 42 years, Rudolph C Kastenhuber II, and in 2001 by husband of 4 years, Adam Zurybida.
As a teen Evelyn was a straight A student and involved with a youth Bible group. Married in 1949 to the
love of her life Rudy, she was devoted to him and their 9 children and their families. Needless to say, a
full-time job! In 1979 she began a career as an accounting clerk where she excelled in her role earning
multiple certifications, until her retirement in 1997. In her 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s, she blossomed
exploring her interests and passions for music, learning German, needlecrafts, cooking and travel,
including 2 trips to Germany. She enrolled in art and dance classes, regularly practiced piano, and sang
in 2 community choral groups as well as in the choir at St John’s. She continued her pursuit of Bible
studies in various venues, and was an active long-time member at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran
Church, including serving as a past Church Council member.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Christine Kastenhuber, Carol Riling (Jeffrey), Andrew Kastenhuber
(Virginia), Susan K. Roethke, Linda Gay (Kevin), Evelyn Frisch (Robert), Michael Kastenhuber, and
daughter-in-law Denise Kastenhuber; 15 grandchildren: Christine Molnar, Peter Molnar (Charlene),
Jennifer Kastenhuber, Laura McComsey (Andy), Katlyn Ingram (Mike), Brittany Kastenhuber, Danielle
Bridge (Vince), Allison Roethke, Sarah Roethke, Lisa Myers (Daniel), Jeffrey Riling, Jenifer Ogilvie (Sam ), Bobby Frisch (Samantha), Michelle Sims (James), and Mary Claire Kastenhuber; nine great
grandchildren: Ryan, Max, Lindsey, Casey, Riley, Ava, Vinny, James, and Lily. Evelyn was preceded in
death by her beloved sons, Rudolph and Walter Kastenhuber.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service (no Visitation) on Friday October 15th at
11am in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 505 N. York Road, Hatboro (Masks required). Her
interment will follow immediately after her Service in the Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, donations
