Francis W. Charlton, Jr., of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Warminster, Pennsylvania, died January 3, 2020 at Ocala Regional Medical Center in Florida. He was 80 years old. Frank was the beloved husband of Joan (nee Kenney) Charlton.
Frank was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated from Porter-Tower High School, Reinerton, PA. After graduation, he served for four years in the United States Navy. He retired from Honeywell and Xerox after 30+ years of service. Frank was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hatboro, Pennsylvania and also Hope Lutheran Church in The Villages, Florida. Frank (KA3FBP) was a member of the Warminster Amateur Radio Club.
In 1990, Frank became a member of Jerusalem Lodge #506 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he eventually served as Master in 2000. He is also a PC of Kensington Kadosh Commandery #54, a PHP of Royal Arch Chapter #245, and PTIM of Philadelphia Council #11 and was awarded KYCH in 2002. He was also a member of LuLu Shrine Temple where he participated in the Motor Unit Motorcycle Drill Team. Frank was also an active member of Jesters, Hillbillies, Sojourners, Knight Masons, Red Cross & Girard Mark Lodge. Upon retiring to Florida in 2011, he also joined The Villages Lodge, Shrine Club, Jesters, and High Twelve Club #674.
In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by children, Lisa DeLong (Brian), Michael Thim (Jamie), Joseph Thim (Kristin) and grandchildren, Haley, Abby, Riley, Griffin, and McKenna. He is survived by a brother, Robert and was predeceased by a sister, Mary Jane. Frank is also survived by blended family, Christopher, Sandra, Peter, Kimberly and the late John.
Relatives and friends will be invited to attend his viewing on Sunday, January 12, 2020 after 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in Schneider Funeral Home, 431 N. York Road, Hatboro, Pennsylvania and again on Monday, January 13, 2020 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM. His funeral service will take place on Monday in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 505 N. York Road, Hatboro at 10:30 AM. His interment will immediately follow in West Laurel Hill Cemetery, 225 Belmont Ave, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
