Frederick L. Jernigan of Chalfont PA passed away May 7, 2026 at his home in Chalfont PA. He was 79 years old. He was a devoted husband of Gilda Walburn Jernigan, whom they shared 40 years together. He was born in Kulpsville PA; son of the late Thomas and Alice Jernigan. He is survived by his two brothers and two sisters.
Fred dedicated his working life to truck driving and heavy equipment operating, most recent being Glasgow for over two decades from where he retired. He was an avid coin collector, along with tools, ducks, nutcrackers, and anything antique. He also loved working in his wood shop, as well as gardening, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family, most of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart.
In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by his two daughters Lezlie Fosbrook (Steve) of Torrington CT, Lisa Springart (John) of Harleysville PA, and son Anthony Walburn of Horsham PA. He is survived by 8 grandchildren; Briana, Garrett, Nicholas, Ian, Emily, Leah, JT and Justin, and two great-grandchildren; Ava and JJ.
To honor Fred’s wishes the family will have a private celebration of life, and they thank you for your understanding during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
