Helen McCarney Obituary

Helen (Sebjanics) McCarney of Warrington passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024.  She was 97 years young.

She was the loving and devoted wife of the late John “Jack” McCarney, Sr. with whom she shared a beautiful life and marriage of more than 63 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Louis, sister, Irma Abruzere and sister, Theresa Bellizzi.

Helen was born on October 25, 1926 to the late Frank and Theresa Sebjanics, and she grew up in Allentown, PA where she met her love, Jack, at her best friend’s wedding.

They married and raised their six children together in Warminster, PA.  They moved to Aiken, SC in 1984 where they lived for 15 years before returning to Warminster.  While in Aiken, Helen and her sweet dog Patty, volunteered to deliver food packages for Meals on Wheels.  She was also a proud member of The Garden Makers Garden Club of Aiken.

Helen will be remembered first and foremost, for her love and devotion to her family. She was a magnet for babies, kids and dogs. She loved baking treats such as chocolate brownies, her Mother’s recipes for “Grammy cookies” and kiffles but especially the family’s traditional duck cake for birthdays.  Her other favorite pastimes were walking her dogs (Patty and Nanna), chatting with neighbors, gardening, and doing jigsaw puzzles.

Helen’s dedication to others continued as a teacher’s aide for many years in the 1970’s with students in the IEP programs at McDonald Elementary School, Willow Dale Elementary and Bucks County Technical School.

She will be forever missed by her children, Candace Cogan (Michael), John McCarney, Jr. (Eileen), Raymond McCarney (Diane), Robert McCarney (Christine), Richard McCarney (Barbara), and Mary Hull (Clay).  One of Helen’s greatest joys were her twelve grandchildren: Jennifer Jacobsen (Paul), Daniel Cogan (Nicole), Benjamin Cogan (Marisa), Robert McCarney (Laura), Michael McCarney, Matthew McCarney, Dana Dovidio (Dominick), Brianna Dietz (Derek), Kyle McCarney, Jamie McCarney, Cassie McCarney and Tyler Hull and her ten great grandchildren: Hailey, Emma, Abby, Hanna, Liam, Jameson, Nash, Savannah, Kennedy, and Lainey.

She was a devoted wife, loving mother and a loyal friend.  She lived her life serving others with kindness, love, and faith.

Helen’s life will be celebrated with a Funeral Mass at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Warrington, on Friday, April 5, 2024.  The Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m.  Her interment will follow in St. John Neumann Cemetery in Chalfont.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be sent in her memory to Doxie Rescue of Bucks County, 181 Gilbert Drive, Morrisville, PA 19067.
