Inge B. Campanella “Inky” of Hatboro (Warminster) passed away on May 29, 2025 in Richboro, PA. She was 88 years old. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul S. Shope with whom she shared 22 years of marriage. She then became the beloved wife of the late Anthony J. Campanella for over 32 years. She was born in Abington, the daughter of the late Ludwig and Bertha (Meisenbacher) Katzenmaier.
Inge was a lifelong member of the New Apostolic Church. After graduating from high school, Inky worked for the Bell Telephone Company where she made friends with Shirley who was from western Pennsylvania. She traveled with Shirley to her home and met her first husband, Paul. She and Paul were married in June of 1956 and had 2 daughters, Linda Lee and Wendy Cheryl. After the tragic loss of Paul, Inky continued caring for her family and met her second husband, Anthony. She embraced the addition of a stepson, Anthony, Jr. Throughout her life, Inge followed in her father’s footsteps with her love of gardening and had a natural green thumb. She spent countless hours creating and tending to the beautiful flower gardens that surrounded her home. One of her greatest joys was attending the Philadelphia Flower Show with her daughters. She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. Inge had a great love of animals, dogs and cats in particular, and she consistently donated to the S.P.C.A. Inge had a deep love of her country exhibited by her donations to veterans’ groups and love of anything red, white, and blue. One of her favorite phrases was “God Bless America.” She enjoyed traveling and seeing new things with the souvenirs of her travels displayed in her “rock garden.” Wherever she went, if there was a pretty or interesting rock, she brought it home. Her favorite road trip was a day at the beach enjoying the ocean, so of course her gardens also included shells. Inge loved driving, kept an immaculate car and enjoyed attending her son-in-law, Rich’s car races. Her love of family was deep, caring for and entertaining grandchildren as well as offering to watch the children of others so that they might have time with friends. People describe her as a faithful, kind, sweet, and funny lady who will be deeply missed by all the people who knew her best.
Inge is survived by her daughters, Linda and Wendy, daughter-in-law, Lynn, grandchildren Natalie (Dave), Amanda (Cory), Anthony (Jen), Devan, Michael (Anna) and Melanie. She has 14 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her granddaughter, Jacqueline and her stepson, Anthony.
Relatives and friends are invited to Schneider Funeral Home at 431 N. York Rd. in Hatboro, PA to attend an hour of visitation from 10- 11 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. Interment will occur immediately after the service at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA.
