James Eugene Hentz Sr., age 85, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026. He was born on September 15, 1940, in Ashland, PA to the late Reuben Hentz and
Blanche (nee Herb) Hentz.
James was a proud United States Army Veteran. An avid outdoorsman, he found
pleasure hunting and fishing. For many years, his weekends were spent at The River,
where he could usually be found in a bass boat. He was very mechanical and loved to
fix things. He built a double bike for the neighborhood children. James enjoyed
traveling with his family and possessed an adventurous spirit. He went skydiving at the
age of 55.
Known to many as “Uncle Jim” he enjoyed driving around in his convertible and talking
with his many friends.
James is survived by his children, Jayne Hentz-Rabbe (Thomas) and James Hentz Jr.;
his grandchildren, Tyler Hentz and Jayson Rabbe; his brother Randy Hentz
(Charlene); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Judy Hentz (nee Roadcap); brothers, Thomas Hentz
and Robert Hentz (survived by his wife, Philippina); and his grandson, Alex Rabbe.
Services will be held at 11:30 am on March 12, 2026, at Washington Crossing National
Cemetery.
