James Maccaroni Obituary

James Nicholas Maccaroni Sr., known to everyone as "Jim," died June 25, 2026, at Wesley Enhanced Living in Doylestown, surrounded by family. He was 82.

Born in Camden, New Jersey in 1943, Jim built his career around creative work: in the art department at Philadelphia's Channel 17, as co-founder of the ad agency MR Associates, and for many years as communications director at the New Jersey Education Association. He attended Bishop Eustace Preparatory School in New Jersey before studying design at King's College in Wilkes-Barre, and served in the Army Reserve.

He was always the guy with a corny joke ready, a bad magic trick on standby, and a doodle going on the nearest napkin. That same creative energy went into each handmade card he made for every occasion and his famously funny Christmas cards. He made people laugh, usually on purpose, and gave just as generously of his time, dedicating many hours to the Hatboro Historical Society and other committees in the town he and Carol called home for over 50 years.

Jim is survived by Carol, his wife of nearly 58 years; his daughter, Beth, and her husband, Peter, and grandchildren Julian and Ana; his son, James Maccaroni Jr., and his wife, Jennifer; and his brother, Nick, and his wife, Debbie; and his sister, Gloria, and her husband, Simon.

A viewing will be held Thursday, July 2nd at 10:00 a.m., with Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. David's Church in Willow Grove. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Union Library of Hatborough (https://hatborolibrary.org/support-the-library/) are appreciated.
