James Henry Vowler, Jr. formerly of Springfield, Delaware County, PA passed away on January 28, 2024. He was 86 years old. James was the beloved husband of the late Carol Ann (Jackson) Vowler, with whom he had shared nearly 60 years of marriage. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late James Henry, Sr. and Mildred (Jacobs) Vowler. In addition to his wife and parents, James was predeceased by his sister, Jeanne (Vowler) Fry. He is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
James was a graduate of Upper Darby High School, Bloomsburg State College (now Bloomsburg University) and Temple University and went on to teach at Palmyra High School in New Jersey for nearly 4 decades before retiring in 1996. James was honored with the Palmyra High School Teacher of the Year Award in 1985. He was a 50+ year member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Springfield, PA. James was an avid reader, appreciated organ music, loved gardening, especially tomato plants, and was an ardent, life-long fan of his favorite sports team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
