JoAnn Cassidy

JoAnn Cassidy of Southampton, PA, passed from this life on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the age of 83.  Born in Brooklyn, NY, JoAnn was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Purcell, and the former wife of Donald Cassidy. 

JoAnn was a creative, compassionate person with an exuberance for life.  She valued integrity and uniqueness, embraced change with optimism and delighted in a good sense of humor.  JoAnn was a devoted mother, who cherished her family and friends.  JoAnn was always listening to music, especially Frank Sinatra and Billy Joel, and she enjoyed the beach, particularly Cape May.  JoAnn was an avid tennis player who also practiced yoga.  She graduated from Stella Maris High School, earned her Bachelors’ degree from Arcadia University and a Master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.  JoAnn lived for many years in Rockville Centre, NY, and later in Huntingdon Valley, PA.  She retired from JEVS Human Services, where she worked for many years as a Vocational Counselor. 

JoAnn is survived by her four children; Martin Cassidy and his wife Dina, Gregory Cassidy and his wife Stacy, Paul Cassidy and his wife Amy Shen, and Suzanne Cassidy, five grandchildren Gabriella, Mackenzie, Joseph, Jacqueline and Esme, and a sister, Mary Gucciardo. JoAnn was preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn Rudland, and her brother, Robert Purcell.

Relatives and friends will be received by her family on Monday after 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in Schneider Funeral Home, 431 N. York Road, Hatboro, and are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Tuesday (No viewing Tuesday Morning) at 11:00 a.m. Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Ave, Southampton, PA 18966.   Her interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to a charity of your choosing.
