Joanne Corini Burrell passed away peacefully into God’s hands on May 22, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was 62 and the devoted wife of Jack Burrell, with whom she shared 38 years of marriage. Together, Jack & Joanne have two children Chris and Chelsea, ages 33 and 30. Joanne was born in Darby, Pennsylvania to her father Edmund F. Corini Sr. and her mother, the late Mary Mahoney Corini.
After graduating Springbrook High School, Joanne studied Bio-Chemistry at Chestnut Hill College and then received her Doctor of Medical Dentistry from the Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry in 1989. Joanne opened her private dental practice in 1991 and served her patients with care, compassion, and a smile for 30+ years. She also took on leadership roles in the Jefferson Abington Dental Clinic from 2015 – 2022 and was named the Program Director of the General Practice Residency Program in 2021. Throughout her illustrious career, Joanne was honored with numerous awards for her professional leadership and for her dedication to serving to the community. She was also elected as a Fellow to the American College of Dentists in 2015.
Joanne celebrated the small moments in life, especially enjoying time with her family in their favorite place Cape May, New Jersey. Known for her joyous optimism and positive outlook, ‘Jojo’ lived by her motto to ‘Do the Dance’ and filled every moment with happiness through her favorite activities, such as morning walks on the beach with her dog Charlie, planting peonies, daisies, and sunflowers, and playing Yahtzee. Her giving nature was felt by all in many ways including those she loved with whom she shared her infamous holiday crunch mix every Christmas.
On behalf of Joanne, the Burrell family invites everyone to celebrate her life this Friday May 27th. Visitation will be held from 10 – 11 am, immediately followed by her funeral mass at 11am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 321 Witmer Rd, Horsham, PA 19044. Afterwards, all guests are welcome for lunch at the Joseph Ambler Inn, 1005 Horsham Rd, North Wales, PA 19454.
To carry on her spirit and love for nature, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Joanne’s name to the Cape May Bird Observatory, 701 E Lake Dr, Cape May Point, NJ 08212
