Joanne F. Lightner

Joanne F. Lightner (nee Kennedy) of Rosyln, PA passed away surrounded by family on August 27, 2025. She was 85 years old. Joanne was the beloved wife of the late John N. Lightner, Jr., with whom they shared 56 years of marriage. She was born in Philadelphia, PA a daughter of the late Joseph and Christine Kennedy.

Joanne is survived by a daughter Laurel Ann Backert and her husband Gary and son John J. Lightner, Sr and his wife Carrie Ann. Grandchildren; Matthew Backert (Nicolette), John J. Lightner, Jr. Ryan Backert, and Abigail Lightner, sister; Christine Kennedy, son-in-law Michael A. Lute, sister-in-law; Joan Lauber and many nieces, nephews and a large loving family. In addition to her husband and parents Joanne was predeceased by daughter; Mary Beth Lute, sister; Elizabeth Irwin, brothers-in-law; Scott Irwin and George Lauber.

Relatives and friends will be received by her family on Thursday, September 4th after 10:00 a.m. followed by her Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. in Schneider Funeral Home, 431 N. York Road, Hatboro. Her interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials in Joanne’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital HERE.
