June Breithaupt Obituary

June Elva Breithaupt of Doylestown a former 50 year plus resident of Hatboro passed away on January 3, 2020.  She was 95 years old.  June was the beloved wife of the late Walter John Breithaupt, Jr. with whom she shared over 40 years of marriage.  Born in Camden, NJ June was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Louise (nee Schmeer) Bauer.

June was a Charter Member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hatboro.  During World War II she was employed with Brewster Aeronautical Corporation and also worked at the Nyce Ball bearing company and has been registered as a Rosie the Riveter with the World War II Museum in Washington D.C.  June was a Girl Scout Troop Leader of troop 32, and was very active with Boy Scouts and Senior Girl Scouts.  She was a member of the Penny Pack PTA and an activist in her own right helping make changes in her local community. 

A skilled seamstress, knitter, crochetier and baker June used her talent to help many people and organizations. She would bake cakes for her children’s birthday parties and weddings.  June would bake cookies, thousands of cookies for the Chalfont Fire department fundraiser.  She was also responsible for creating her daughters wedding dresses, many lap robes and walker bags for local nursing homes, knit hats for cancer patients and newborns, and blankets for local animal shelters. 

June loved to travel. She cruised down the Ohio and Mississippi rivers on the American Queen Steam boat 8 times with many trips across the country, one of her favorite places to travel was to Disney World.  She enjoyed riding it’s a small world and the Dumbo Ride along with many others.  June also embraced many old world German Traditions such as Fasnacht day, putting a pickle on the Christmas tree and making Homemade Root Beer.   She also took great pride in her green thumb and was known for her gardening especially the quality of her tomatoes and green peppers.

She is survived by four Children; June Elva Bair and her husband Robert, Walter John Breithaupt III and his wife Debbie, Carl Raymond Breithaupt and his wife Mary, Louise Mary Kalchek, nine Grandchildren; Rev. June Elva Bair “Jr.”, Robert Ellsworth Bair Jr. and his wife Nicholle, Walter Albert Bair and his wife Stephanie, Erin Ann Gaylord and her husband Peter, Kristin Leigh Breithaupt, Jennifer Marie Pelleg and her husband Ben, Gabriella Anne Berman and her husband Jordan, Jody Marie Jones and her husband Yamir and Theodore Joseph Miles III and his wife Jessica, nine great grandchildren- Tessa Oliva Bair, Calvin Kai Gaylord, Alex Hudson Gaylord, Brooklyn Ann Pio, Jackson Robert Pio, Maya Jo Pelleg, Addison Lauren Bailey, Corbin Gentry Bailey, Theodore Joseph Miles IV and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband June was preceded in death by a son, Mark William Breithaupt, a grandson baby Boy Miles and two sisters Katherine Smith/Hoyda and Charlotte Hoyda.      

Relatives and friends will be received by her family on Saturday, January 11 after 10:00 a.m. in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 505 N. York Road, Hatboro, PA 19040 followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. . Her interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia at a later date.  In lieu of flowers memorials in June’s memory may be made to the Bucks County SPCA, 1665 Street Road New Hope, PA 18938 or to her church named above.
