Katherine V. Ray, of Hatboro, formerly of Rockledge, passed away on September 29, 2025. She was 90. She was the beloved wife of the Reverend Hartley Ray with whom she shared 49 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John Sr. and Viola Haiges and sister of the late John Haiges, Jr. After graduating from Olney High School, she completed her studies at The University of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia General Hospital, earning her degree as a registered nurse. Throughout her career as a nurse and nursing instructor, she worked in a variety of healthcare settings, continuing to work part-time at a nursing facility even after retirement. She enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching, gardening, vacationing in Brigantine, NJ, and most of all, spending time with her family who were her pride and joy. She had a heart for helping people everywhere she went, and will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and feisty spirit.
Kay is survived by her daughters Bethel (Otto) Hentz of Ambler and Nadine ( Alan) Blackburn of Reading, five grandchildren: Bridget (Sean), Olivia ( Seth), Kevin, Eric, and Brian. She was also blessed to be a great-grandmother to Daniel, Hannah, and Finley.
Relatives and friends will be received after 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025 at the Schneider Funeral Home, 431 N. York Road, Hatboro, followed by a memorial service beginning at 11:45 a.m. Interment will be private.
