M. Carol Cotton of Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania, passed away Monday, September 19, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Ray Cotton and Mary Ethel Proctor Cotton. She is survived by her sister, Cheryl Cotton Oatts; her niece, Kathleen Amanda Oatts; her nephew, Matthew Michael (Sarah) Oatts; and her great-niece, Maggie Louise Oatts. Born in St. Augustine, Florida and raised in Hastings, Florida Carol attended Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, where she was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984.
She was a faithful member of Buxmont Unitarian Universalist Fellowship where she continued a lifelong commitment of serving as pianist in her place of worship until her stroke in 2011. Her passion for the performing arts extended beyond her abilities as a pianist and into theatre productions of The Savoy Company in Philadelphia. Though Carol was limited in her mobility in later years of life, she never let that set back dampen her quick wit, dead-pan humor, and desire to find the positive in life.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15 at 2 p.m. at Buxmont Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 2040 Street Road Warrington, PA 18976. Virtual attendance will be possible via Zoom, please contact the Fellowship office for details on how to connect.
The family and close friends ask that memorial gifts be made to either BuxMont Unitarian Universalist Fellowship with "In Honor of M. Carol Cotton" in the memo line or directly to Stray Cat Blues.
