Marilyn Beckmann Fischer of Hatboro, PA, nee Marilyn Edna Beckmann, passed away on April 4, 2023 on a beautiful spring day at her home surrounded by family. She was 87 years old. Marilyn was the devoted wife of Howard (Bud) Fischer II, and an adored mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Born on September 26, 1935, in Philadelphia, PA, Marilyn was the daughter of the late John and Anna May Beckmann and sister to Jeananne (Beckmann) Cyliax. Marilyn graduated from Lincoln High School in Philadelphia, PA, in 1953. Marilyn married the love of her life, Bud, on September 6, 1959. Bud and Marilyn then moved into their forever home in Hatboro in 1960, just around the block from her sister, Jean. Bud and Marilyn were affectionately known as Ken and Barbie by some neighbors.
Marilyn had a knack for making lifelong friendships. During her time at Lincoln High, she was an active member of her sorority. One friend from her sorority, Carol, helped introduce Marilyn and Bud for the first time. Along with attending luncheons with her sorority sisters, she belonged to a local bridge club, was an active member of a bowling league which met at Thunderbird Lanes, in Willow Grove, and was a member of the Lehman Methodist Church in Hatboro, PA. Marilyn was also a talented and accomplished artist and continued to take art classes all her life and became lasting friends with all her classmates. Marilyn loved spending time at the beach. First with her mom, dad, and the Maginnis clan in Sea Isle City, NJ; and eventually, in Ocean City, NJ, where she and Bud made a second home in 1995.
Marilyn also enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening, and anything that involved spending time with family. All who had the pleasure of knowing her will remember her warm and caring nature. She was a fiercely loyal woman and could make anyone feel like family. Marilyn is honored and cherished by her adoring husband, Bud.
She is survived by her children, son Bud Fischer III and his wife Agnes of West Chester, PA; daughter Debbie Ferrari and her husband Ron of Chalfont, PA; and son John Fischer and his wife Donna of Warrington, PA; as well as her nine grandchildren: Jennifer Wells of Worcester, PA, Brittney Ferrari of Athens, GA, Brittany Fischer of Philadelphia, PA, Devon (Fischer) Rockwell of Stevensville, MD, Rachel Fischer of Warrington, PA, Carly Fischer of Warrington, PA, Jamie Ferrari of Chalfont, PA, Zak Fischer of Warrington, PA, Dylan Fischer of Warrington, PA; and her great-grandchildren: Emma Wells of Worcester, PA, and Savannah Ferrari Ecker of Athens, GA.
