Minnie Rose Dobbs died on February 16, 2024, at her home in Warminster, Pennsylvania. She was 95 years old. She was the beloved wife of the late William L. Dobbs “Bill” with whom she had shared 71 years of marriage. Minnie was born on October 7, 1928, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Dominic and Carmela Pelosi.
Minnie and Bill lived in Scotch Plains, New Jersey for 60 years until 2018. She spent the remaining years in a retirement community in Pennsylvania. Minnie was a charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and a charter member of the Rosary Altar Society where she served as Treasurer and volunteered countless hours. In her later years, Minnie worked at a local insurance office. Besides church activities and volunteer work, Minnie enjoyed reading suspense and romance novels, cooking new recipes, playing poker, Broadway shows and socializing with her many friends and neighbors. Her number one priority was providing for her family and making the house feel like a home; there was always a home-cooked meal on the table. Minnie’s family fondly remembers her mouth-watering Italian dinners of ante paste and macaroni with homemade gravy and meatballs. She was very generous with gifts to her children, grandchildren and numerous charitable causes.
Minnie is survived by her children, Phyllis O’Donnell and her husband, Larry of Phillipsburg, NJ, Diane Dobbs and her husband Jay McHugh of Newtown, PA, and Donald Dobbs and his wife Maria of Clear Spring, MD. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Caitlin McHugh and her husband, Nicholas Stevens, Kelly McHugh and her fiancé, Nathan Leisenring, Zachary Boda and his wife Amanda and Michael Boda and recently became a great-grandmother to Rhea Lily Stevens.
Funeral Service and Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1571 Martine Ave. Scotch Plains, NJ 07076 or The Crossings Animal Society, 1083 Taylorsville Road, Suite 3, Washington Crossing, PA 18977.
