Peter Choate Obituary

Peter Jacquet Choate, a devoted family man, community leader, and car enthusiast, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on May 28, 1941, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to the late David and Ann “Nancy” Choate, Peter lived a life defined by passion, generosity, and love for those around him.

Peter is survived by his loving daughter, Lisa Palo, and her husband, Gary; his stepson, Peter Robotham, and his wife, Julie; and his brother, Robert Choate, and his wife, Rita. He was a proud grandfather to four incredible grandchildren: Casie, Kyle, Parker, and Jace, who were his pride and joy. Peter was predeceased by his brother, David Choate, and his sister, Ellen Choate.

Peter’s impact reached far beyond his family. He was one of the founders and a former president of the Horsham Preservation and Historical Association, dedicating more than two decades to the preservation and restoration of the Penrose Strawbridge House at Graeme Park. His commitment to history and conservation inspired countless volunteers and will leave a lasting legacy in the community he loved.

A lifetime member of the Old York Road Sports Car Club, Peter was also an avid car enthusiast who embraced the camaraderie and thrill of motorsports. His entrepreneurial spirit shone through in his careers at ARA Services and UGI, as well as his ventures owning and running Amerimicro Computers, the Village Bookmark, and an Exxon gas station.

Despite his many achievements, Peter’s greatest act of devotion was caring for the love of his life, his second wife, Margaret Choate, during her battle with Alzheimer’s. His unwavering love and selflessness exemplified the kindness and strength he brought to every relationship.

Peter’s memorial service will be private and held at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association, honoring his dedication to preserving the memory of his beloved wife and supporting others impacted by the disease.

Peter’s legacy of love, generosity, and dedication to his family and community will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
