Richard Borland Obituary

Richard Eugene Borland of Hatboro passed away on February 13, 2025. He was surrounded by his family and friends.  He was 71 years old.  Richard was born at the Naval Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa.   He was the son of the late Richard J. Borland Jr. and Anna M. Csaky.  

During his youth, Richard was active in the Boy Scouts of America as well as enjoying Athletics in School. Richard was also a league bowler. He had an enthusiasm about the game that was instilled in him by his grandfather. In his teenage years, Richard became a member of the Young Republicans, working on Richard Nixon’s Presidential Campaign and numerous other campaigns.  As a young man he ran for Upper Merion Township Auditor with letters of recommendation from then Senator Richard Tilghman. He was respected for his dedication to the party.

Richard developed a strong work ethic from a very early age, sometimes working more than one job.  As sophomore in high school he partnered with an elderly woman to open an antique store in King of Prussia called The Cellar. During his lifelong career in the restaurant business, he developed many deep personal friendships who became like family to him. 

Richard had an appreciation for music.  He played the drums and flute when he was younger.  He, along with his mother and dear friends attended the Musikfest in Bethlehem every year for his birthday. 

Richard was also deeply passionate and dedicated to AA.  He conquered and abstained for 38 years. He was always willing to help others on their journey to sobriety.  

Richard was a kind, loving and generous man and will be missed deeply by all who had the honor of knowing him and loving him.

Richard is survived by his Brothers; Brad Borland, Jim Borland and his Sisters; Carol Majewski and Jerrie Thompson and his many nephews and nieces, a large loving family. He was predeceased by his sister Tracey and his brother Denny.

Relatives and friends are will be received by his family on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 after 7:00 pm in Schneider Funeral Home, 431 N. York Road, Hatboro followed by his Memorial Service at 8:00 p.m.  His interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers memorials in Richard’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association
