Richard Harper Obituary

Richard J. Harper, 92 of Abington, PA passed away on March 26, 2022. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 1, 1929 to the late Joseph and Freda Harper. He is preceded in death by his late wife Carol Harper.

Richard’s passion for trains turned into a 40+ year career with The Reading Railroad/Conrail. He was a long term member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hatboro, PA where he took a special interest in their music and fellowship programs. Anyone who knew Richard knew him for his compassion, sense of humor and zest for life. Richard could make a friend wherever he went, and he loved his friends dearly.

Richard is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Daniel Coll, granddaughters Courtney Coll and Brittany Coll Sherrod (Avery), numerous nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends and neighbors.

Relatives and friends will be received by his family at 10am on Friday April 1st at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 505 North York Rd Hatboro, followed by his Memorial Service at 11am. In lieu of flowers and to honor Richard’s love for animals, contributions may be made in his name to the Montgomery County SPCA - https://montgomerycountyspca.org/
