Rodney Paul Boer of Hatboro, PA, 80, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025 surrounded by love, with his wife, and their four children all by his side.
Rod was the beloved husband of Lee Donna Boer, the love of his life whom he unconditionally cherished. A young Rod and Lee, at only 19 and 18 years old, married and ventured together on a lifetime journey, exemplifying an unbreakable partnership bond, sharing 60 years of devoted marriage and all of life’s beautiful experiences, including raising their four children together, bonding with grandchildren, and enjoying traveling and hobbies.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Paul and Arline Boer. A 1963 graduate of William Tennent High School, Rod later worked full-time at Narco Avionics in Fort Washington, PA, supporting his family while simultaneously dedicating 13 years to night studies at Villanova University, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, cum laude, in 1985. He later continued his engineering career at Honeywell, also in Fort Washington.
Rod enjoyed the simple things in life, including gardening, hiking and fishing in nature, woodworking, and doing projects around the house, always to make a better home for his family. He was an avid cyclist participating in several century marathons. In 1990, Rod and Lee purchased a sailboat, beginning many treasured years sailing and exploring the Chesapeake Bay from their home port of Haven Harbour in Rock Hall, Maryland. Rod looked forward to ending each workweek to tinker around on their boat on the weekend and to spend time hanging out with close boating friends.
Known affectionately as “Captain” or “Cappy” by his 16 grandchildren, Rod especially loved sailing with his family and teaching each of the young ones little nautical tips. “Rock Hall weekends” became a cherished family tradition filled with laughter, celebration, and togetherness.
In addition to his wife Lee, Rod is survived by his brother Kenneth Boer and his wife Barbara of Horsham; two daughters, Natalie L. Notarianni and her husband Lou of Hatboro, and Heather L. Amorim and her husband Fernando of Glenside; two sons, David A. Boer and his wife Chantell of North Wales, and Seth N. Boer and his wife April of Downingtown; his 16 beloved grandchildren: Nicole, Linsea, Casea, Justin, Ryan, Masea, Brenna, Aydan, Chloe, Brandan, Sarah, Autumn, Lusea, Addison, Jordan, and Ashlyn; and his great grandson, Strider James. Rod was a selfless man, always putting his family first and caring for others. His family respected, admired and adored him in every facet of life.
