Ronald Monkres Obituary

Ronald Gene Monkres, a proud son of Oklahoma and Texas, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of service, devotion, and enduring love for his family.

Born in Washington County, Oklahoma, Ron was the son of the late Edgar and Opal Monkres.  He grew up surrounded by family, as kid who loved baseball and making music with his brother Jack and their father, where he developed a strong sense of responsibility, loyalty, and quiet determination. These qualities shaped the man he became—steady, dependable, and deeply committed to those he loved.

Ron proudly served his country as a United States Navy pilot, demonstrating courage, discipline, and an unwavering sense of duty. After earning his wings in 1966 in Pensacola Florida, Ron served two tours of duty in Vietnam, providing carrier-based air support in the Grumman S-2 Tracker.  He went on to being 4-engine qualified in the Douglas C-118 (DC-6) and P-3 Orion sub hunter, the latter being stationed out of Keflavik, Iceland, for a 3-year tour of duty accompanied by family.  After achieving the rank of Commander, he was posted in command of US Naval Base Perth Amboy, New Jersey until his retirement. His service as a naval aviator and officer were defining chapters of his life, and the values he carried—honor, integrity, and perseverance—remained with him always.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carole Monkres, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Together they built a strong and caring family, grounded in devotion and mutual respect.

Ron is survived by his children, Ron Monkres II(Megan) of Chalfont, PA and Carole Trubilla (Chad) of Oceanside, CA. He was a devoted father who provided guidance, strength, and encouragement throughout their lives.

He was also a proud grandfather to William Monkres, Leah Monkres, Nicholas Trubilla, and Gabriel Trubilla, who brought him immense joy. He treasured the time spent with his grandchildren—sharing stories, offering wisdom, and watching them grow.

Outside of his family and service, Ron had a lifelong passion for flying, which extended beyond his Navy career into his personal life. He greatly enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, combining skill, patience, and a true love of aviation. He also had a deep appreciation for sports cars, proudly winning 2nd place in the New Hope Auto Show for his beloved 1966 Ford Mustang.  Family will remember how Ron spent many happy hours working on model trains, crafting beautiful scenic to-scale layouts where his creativity and attention to detail were clearly expressed.  Later in life he enjoyed detailing and driving his late model Dodge Challenger, which he meticulously kept looking brand new.

Ron will be remembered for his calm presence, his dedication to family, and his proud service to his country. He lived a life of purpose, guided by duty and love, and leaves behind a lasting legacy in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, extended family, and all who knew him.

Reunited with his beloved Carole, he will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
