Ruth F. Robertson

Ruth Florence Young Cottrell Robertson died peacefully at 96 years of age on February 17, 2021 at Ann’s Choice in Warminster, PA.  She was born August 21, 1924 in Willow Grove, PA.  She was the daughter of Florence Lamplugh Young and Richard Thomas Young, Sr. 

Ruth was a 1942 graduate of Upper Moreland High School and maintained several lifelong friendships with those classmates.  She was a gifted homemaker and seamstress and taught each granddaughter how to sew.  She and her husband, Roy, were avid pinochle card players and enjoyed car trips - often with their granddaughters.  She will always be a beloved “Aunt Ruth” to her large extended Young Family. 

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Samuel, her husband of 51 years, Roy French Cottrell, her second husband, James Robertson, a brother, Richard Young, Jr., and a sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Robinson.  She will be missed by her brother, William Thomas Young of Huntsville, Alabama, her son, James and daughter-in-law Sandra Cottrell of Doylestown, PA, and her daughter, Bonnie Cottrell Kelly of Iowa. She was a beloved grandmother to Heather (Cottrell) Thomsen of Harleysville, PA, Holly (Cottrell) Roscoe of Doylestown, PA, Megan (Cottrell) Robinson of Mullica Hill, NJ, and a great grandmother to six great grandchildren. She will also be missed by two grandsons, Scott and Dan Kelly of Iowa.

Due to COVID19 Ruth’s graveside services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are requested to be made in her memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), Greater Delaware Valley Chapter, 555 Croton Road, Suite 111, King of Prussia, PA 19406 in honor of her great grandson, Braydon Cole Robinson.
