Shirley Jane (Hough) Held

Shirley Jane Held of Dresher, PA passed away on December 24, 2022 at Jefferson Abington Hospital. She was 87 years old. Shirley was beloved by her devoted husband, Norman, of 61 years of marriage. Shirley was born in Haddon Township, NJ, and was daughter of the late Melvin E. Hough and Ruth Hough (nee Murphy).

After graduating from Collingswood High School in 1952, Shirley entered Abington Memorial Hospital’s nursing program and graduated in 1955 as an R.N.  She worked at Abington hospital for the next 6 years, got married, then worked again as a nurse part-time for a private practice. Shirley enjoyed many hobbies, volunteering for various organizations and was an active member of her church. There was nothing she enjoyed more than her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by her daughter: Pamela Raymond and her husband David of Abington, grandsons: David Raymond of Portsmouth, NH and Joseph Raymond of Abington, PA; granddaughters: Mikaela Raymond of Abington, PA and Samantha Raymond of Abington, PA; sister-in-law: Shirley Hough, and nieces, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and many cousins. Shirley was the sister of the late Donald E. Hough (Shirley).

Relatives and friends are invited to Shirley’s viewing on Friday, January 6, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. followed by her funeral service at 12:00 P.M.in Schneider Funeral Home, 431 N. York Rd, Hatboro. Interment in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA.
