Shirley L. Reuter

Shirley L. Reuter (Bauer), of Hatboro, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021. She was 82 years young. She was born in Philadelphia on September 12, 1938, and was the daughter of the late George Bauer and Caroline (Heller).

After graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1956, Shirley began a lengthy banking career with what would eventually become Wells Fargo Bank. At a time when many women did not enter the corporate workplace, she entered the male dominated field by starting as a secretary with First Pennsylvania Bank. At the time of her retirement, she had been promoted several times eventually rising to Assistant Vice President. An avid traveler, including trips to Egypt and Russia, Shirley also enjoyed square dancing, reminiscing with sorority sisters, and, of course, her many fur babies. She spent her most recent years at Wesley Enhanced Living in Hatboro. While at Wesley, she became fast friends with everyone, residents and associates alike. She was so well loved for her kind and caring disposition. Much the social butterfly, there was not a committee or group she did not join and you would be hard pressed to find anyone that did not know Shirley.  Throughout her entire life, she always made friends for life and she will be missed.

Shirley is survived by her brother, Kenneth Bauer of Hatboro; her nephew, Dale Viehmeyer (Joan) of Hatboro; great nephew, Jason Karasow (Ashleigh) of Flourtown; and great nephew, Major Ryan Karasow (Jonelle) of Williamsburg, VA.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, George (Catherine); sister, Caroline Viehmeyer; brother, Herbert (Grace); and niece, Donna Karasow (Philip).

Relatives and friends will be received by her family on Friday, July 23rd after 10:00 am in Schneider Funeral Home, 431 N. York Rd, Hatboro and are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 11:00 am. Her interment will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery, 25 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley PA 19006.
