Theodore Hangey, Jr. Obituary

Theodore “Ted” C. Hangey Jr., of Abington, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on July 16, 1952, Ted was a beloved brother, son, and friend whose kindness, quiet strength, and sense of humor touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. In his youth, Ted worked as a mechanic at the Willow Grove Bowling Alley, where he discovered his love of working with his hands and taking things apart just to put them back together again. That curiosity and skill led to a career as an HVAC technician with the Abington School District, where he proudly served. Ted’s coworkers and the students he supported could always count on him to go the extra mile — he took pride in keeping every building comfortable and running smoothly.

Ted will be remembered for his generous spirit and unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. He had an easygoing nature, a warm smile, and a willingness to help anyone in need. Whether fixing something, sharing a story, or just offering good company, Ted made the people around him feel valued and cared for. He is survived by his sister Kathy, his brother Scott (wife Anita), nephews and nieces Tim Shaw (wife Mary, children Avery, Hailey, and Harper), Matthew Shaw (wife Emily), Chris Shaw, Jessica Harrison (children Olivia and Elise), Jonathan Hangey, and Shanita Savoy. He was preceded in death by Carolyn and Theodore C. Hangey Sr. and his brother-in-law Gregory Shaw.
