Wendy A. Metzgar of Buckingham PA passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, after a two-year battle with cancer. She was 52 years old. Born in Abington, she is the daughter of Joanne Yates Metzgar and the late John D. Metzgar Jr.
A voracious reader and avid cat-lover, Wendy attended Hatboro-Horsham High School and graduated from Dickinson College with a bachelor’s degree in English.
Wendy was known to enjoy a long day on the beach (preferably Sea Isle City) in the sun or a good comedy movie. She could recite Stepbrothers word for word after watching it so many times over the years. She also enjoyed listening to her favorite bands, Coldplay and The Cure were at the top of her list.
Spending much of her post-graduate career working in Philadelphia, Wendy loved to travel with her friends and family, visiting Lake Tahoe, Salt Lake City, and Anna Maria Island in the years before she passed. When she wasn’t traveling, she was often sharing laughs with her great-nieces and nephews and was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones.
She is the beloved little sister of, and is survived by, brothers John D. Metzgar III (Carol) and Bill Metzgar (Shannon). Wendy is also survived by her eight nieces and nephews: Madison Brandt (Corey), James Metzgar, Billy Metzgar (Melina), Melissa Metzgar, Taylor Metzgar, Johnny Metzgar, Joey Metzgar, Delaney Metzgar; and four great-nieces and nephews: Alana Brandt, Johnny Brandt, Luna Johnson, and Adali Metzgar.
A Celebration of Life luncheon is being hosted for friends and family. For details, please contact John Metzgar at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Wendy’s name may be made to the Pennsylvania SPCA.
